These Sloppy Joes are brimming with the sweet flavors of Hawaii. This simple recipe can be prepped and cooked when you're running short on time. Perfect for busy weeknights.
Turn the Instant Pot on the Sauté feature and allow it to heat up while you gather and prep your ingredients.
Chop the onions and peppers and mince the garlic.
Add the tablespoon of olive oil to the pot and let it heat up for a minute.
Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the Instant Pot and sauté them for a few minutes until the onion begins to turn translucent.
Now add the chopped peppers and sauté for a few more minutes.
Add the ground beef to the pot and allow it to brown through.
Once the beef has browned, add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar and mix well.
Add the can of pineapple to the Instant Pot and mix it into the ground beef mixture.
Dump the cup of ketchup and the two tablespoons of tomato paste on top of the ground beef, but DO NOT MIX it in. Just let it sit on top.
Now turn the Sauté feature off, close the lid to the Instant Pot, set the pressure release valve to sealing and then set the Instant Pot to cook on Manual High Pressure for 5 minutes.
Once the cooking time has completed, allow for a 10 minute NPR (Natural Pressure Release). Release any remaining pressure from the pot once the 10 minute NPR has completed and once the pin has dropped open the pot.
Mix all the ingredients together and set the Instant Pot to Sauté once more and cook for about 3 more minutes to thicken the Hawaiian Sloppy Joe mixture.
Serve the Hawaiian sloppy joe meat on top of a toasted Hawaiian bun.
