Creamy Cheddar Grits
These are the creamiest, tastiest grits ever. Perfect served as-is for breakfast or topped with ham, bacon, sour cream, peppers and scallions. Also makes an amazing base for creole shrimp and beef recipes.

Ingredients

cup
water

cup
whole milk
1
cup
quick grits
I prefer Quaker Quick 5-Minute Grits
1/4
cup
heavy whipping cream
1 1/2
cup
extra sharp white cheddar
shredded
1/2
stick
butter (unsalted)
1/4 cup or 4 tbsp
1/4
tsp
white pepper
1
tsp
kosher salt
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, bring the water, whole milk and salt to a boil.
Once the liquid has started to come to a boil and foam up, slowly whisk in the grits, reducing the heat to a simmer.
Continuously stir until the grits are thick and smooth. This will take approximately 4 minutes.
Stir in the cheese, heavy whipping cream, butter, and white pepper.
Your grits are ready to serve.
